As it looks to increase its holiday workforce by around 100,000 employees, UPS drops restrictions on personal appearance, including facial hair and natural hairstyles. The change comes after an internal survey that identified these restrictions as some of the most influential in current employees’ willingness to recommend UPS as an employer. It’s important to note that this change comes after UPS paid a $4.9M fine in 2018 after the EEOC alleged that the company “failed to hire or promote individuals whose religious practices conflict with its appearance policy and failed to provide religious accommodations.”
