Effective March 29th, 2021, California SB 95 requires all employers with more than 25 employees to provide employees up to 80 hours of COVID-19-related supplemental paid sick leave. This is in addition to sick leave required by the 2014 Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act. SB 95 also requires this paid sick leave retroactively to Jan 1, 2021, meaning that any employee granted unpaid COVID-related sick leave between 1/1/21-3/29/21 is entitled to payment for up to 80 hours.
